Without anybody watching now, all the familiar pieces of the downtown Columbus set are coming down. Businesses are getting their signs back and things are slowly getting back to normal. Who knows how long it will take for the work to be done and the barricades to be fully removed, but I think we are all excited to see what small details will remain when all is said and done. How bout them doors?
As for this site, the build-up and the production of the set were our big love affairs so the posts will slowly deteriorate and disappear just like the signs will. It's been fun! See you all in the theatre.
Shooting continued on Day Two in Columbus, this time right on my doorstep. I was asleep at the wheel but Brent hooked up these great photos from downstairs, sweet work dude! Also, PBHGirl has got some insane good photos from Day Two. Oh, not to mention she met Johnny Depp and got his autograph. Keep it up, girl!
And just when you thought everyone has lost their minds, there's this article to put it all in perspective. Sort of.
Check out PBHGirl's Flickr site featuring photos of the downtown Columbus movie set. These are hands-down the best photos of the set that I've seen, really great stuff here. Look at every one of them. So jealous.
Oh, Johnny Depp. Yeah, he was in town. I didn't take any pictures where you can actually see him, but here's some pics taken by Morry Gash/Associated Press found courtesy of the Johnny Depp Zone and the Capital Times and a hundred others. I really missed the boat by not having Johnny Depp-related t-shirts for sale for this thing.
Shooting in the streets commenced today. Living on the set is interesting, you gotta get an escort to go to and from home. Thanks, Nicole! Extras running all over, groups of young girls (and I gotta say more than a few old dudes) screaming at every white van with tinted windows that rolls by. Woke up this morning and the car is blocked in by about a dozen semi-trailers full of equipment and my doorbell rings and go down to see who it is and its that Sparks crew (real troopers) and bam Michael Mann walks by on the sidewalk. Just that kind of day.
There are certain things I like best about this movie transformation deal of downtown. One of those things is all of the old doors, they are so great. I plead to all of the property owners to keep the old doors when the shooting is done! At least let me get a couple! Soon I will post a graphic that includes every door on the downtown set. That is my mission.
Those crew just keep on a-grinding. More people showing up today, expect this weekend and Monday especially to be quite a madhouse. Today there was a camera crew from Channel 3 interviewing people up and down the street, and I saw more than one group of people wearing Public Enemies-related custom-made t-shirts. Fan-atics!
Also, be sure to check out fellow blogger Grinderman's article from the Isthmus Daily Page. Great write-up dude, and thanks for the link!
